Engagement
I had no clue that Charles was going to propose that day. Although I should have known as he strangely talked to my parents alone the night before!
He took me out on a rowboat with a cooler in hand. He used the cooler as a table, and transformed it into such a romantic afternoon tea time. It came with a nice menu, homemade tea time style sandwiches, french macarons, scones, and tea! I thought it was so sweet , and I was impressed at everything. I felt like a princess, but was also very embarrassed when other families took pictures of us, or kids asking to join us from another boat. At one point a bird came and start attacking our food. It was probably a funny sight to watch as I kept yelling at the bird to go away while Charles attacked it whenever it came near.
After we were done eating and the bird left, Charles asked me to close my eyes, and I sat there for a really long time. I was waiting for the dessert, and I was scared the birds would attack again! Finally, Charles asked me to open my eyes, and I saw him on one knee with a ring in front of me. He popped the question, I cried, and said yes!
We spent the rest of the day decorating the city with chalk announcing our engagement. It was so much fun!
After I stopped by his house later that day, it was like a tornado was set off in there! There was bread crust all over the table, unwashed dishes, half open jars. But I was actually very touched as it showed all the hard work and effort he put into it! I felt so special and loved.

Charles' attempt at rowing a boat before he proposed. We went in circles for a while... but he made up for it later :).

Olivia rowed us home with her eyes closed. That was pretty impressive!
Bride's Proposal Story
Groom's side of the story
The proposal will last in my memory as one of the happiest moments in my life. I wasn't just offering her a ring but I was offering her a promise of undying commitment. This made the entire aspect of proposing even more nerve wracking.
I wanted to propose in a way that was tailored for her. She loves romance, and she loves being treated like a princess. I decided to bring a picnic/tea time on a boat. I wasn't sure if I could even bring a cooler ( which was used as a table) on the boat. Thankfully the set up worked out.
We paddled to a nice romantic spot by a tree. When we were finished eating, I asked her to close her eyes as I wanted to take out the "dessert" from the cooler. When I took the ring out and prepared to propose, I froze there for a really long time. I still remember Olivia demanding, "Where is my dessert! What is taking so long" with her eyes shut. At the same time, the row boat drifted to a tree, and a sharp tree branch came a feet away from hitting Olivia's head. Before things got bad, I dropped to one knee and asked her to open her eyes...
The look in her eyes was unforgettable. Her eyes glistened from the tears that ensued, and she said the only word I wanted to hear, "yes".
